Claudius Partisch was born on 9 May 1970 in Vienna.
Already in 1975, he visited a two-year introductory course at the music academy in Vienna with emphasis on violin with Professor Mondl. In 1978, he received private tutoring by assistants of the university class of Mr. Frischenschlager. In 1979, Claudius started studying at the Vienna Conservatory where he completed his violin training (professors Geanta and Schich). From 1986 to 1988 he attended the viola class Zelle.
Claudius had had a long-standing interest in the clarinet and eventually decided to play this instrument. From 1989 to 2000, he successfully attended the clarinet class of Mr Derler. In addition to his interest in classical music, he soon fell for the fascination of jazz and the possibilities of improvisation it offered.
His style and musical wit were shaped by six years as a soloist in a jazz band and a total of 15 years of New Orleans Dixieland.
With the formation of the Wiener Holzbläser Ensemble in 2005, Claudius returned to his classical roots.
