Gert Kolaja was born on 06 May 1967 in Vienna.

The foundations for Gert's music career were laid by several years of clarinet lessons by his father, himself a professional musician.

From 1986 to 1991, Gert finished his saxophone training at the Vienna Jazz Conservatory with distinction (professors Kowarik, Quarda, and Huber).

Gert has played with national and international greats such as the Vereinigten Bühnen Wien, the RSO, the Vienna Art Orchestra, Andy Lee Lang, and many more.

He has participated in numerous concert tours in Europe and the United States as well as in a number of national events (Jazzfest Vienna, opening festivities of the Wiener Festwochen, Carynthian Summer, etc.) highlighting his standing as a highly esteemed professional musician.
