In 2005, the WHB ensemble emerged from a spontaneous decision.

Quickly the four professional musicians became enthralled by their work in the chamber music genre. As a result of the success, the musicians soon realised that the ensemble was as a lasting part of their musical activity. The quartet enables the musicians to play at an exhilarating level of klangkultur to complement their daily work in orchestras. Chamber music takes the members of the quartet on a voyage back to the very roots of communication through music. For the musicians the joy in playing music is a source of inspiration and improvisation.

As each of the members of the quartet covers a different epoch in style, the ensemble as a whole can cover a broad repertoire. Apart from the well-known Vienna Classical period, the musicians delight in playing contemporary music. Jazz elements lend their sound a vivid spontaneity and put a finishing touch on the musical range of the group.
